Whenever someone creates something with all of their heart, then that creation is given a soul.
- Hayao Miyazaki
Penelope graduated from Illinois State University in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, switching from in-person classes to online in the blink of an eye. Though she misses what could have been, her experiences translate in her writing today. Penelope has now honed the ability to work in any space, about anything, and keep the content legible for her readers and audience.
Penelope has an eye for detail, big or small, which allows her to bring her experience in writing and editing to all platforms. She's able to write and edit about a multitude of subjects through in depth research, which includes deep delves into scientific research to relaying interviews, but her talents certainly don’t stop there. Her vast experience and interest in different content guidelines, brands, and genres allow her to tackle any projects or pieces thrown at her. She’s known not to stop until she’s figured out what exactly the problem is, whether this is with writer’s block, or editing a piece that follows content guidelines - but there’s still something off.
However, she doesn’t just focus on content writing and editing. She’s been editing papers and essays since high school, and certainly didn’t stop during her college years, or through her career. Personally, she loves creative writing the most and has a newfound love for creative nonfiction. Lately, she’s been spending her free time working on her novel revolving around a college-aged girl thrown into a world nothing could have prepared her for.
Penelope loves to travel and has a variety of interests, including foreign travel, KPOP, indie films, social media, the LGBTQIA+ community, intersectionality, mental health, graphic design, and reading, but certainly not limited to these topics. Her favorite book is These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong; she’s currently reading What My Mother and I Don’t Talk About: Fifteen Writers Break the Silence, edited by Michele Filgate; she is obsessed with Bob’s Burgers and Abbott Elementary; and is a huge Taylor Swift fan (ask her about Taylor’s lyrics and storytelling). She believes that experiences, interests, and ethics reflect a writer's and editor’s perspectives in their work. She also has three cats she loves very much: Hunter, James, and Betty.
Ask her about the time she got stranded in a Lisbon airport for 24 hours!
Penelope looks forward to making a mark in this crazy world and life through writing and editing. She believes that sometimes, the incredible power of words is stronger than that of a sword, and she has the power to make the content work for you.
